Global Food Summit - Ambassadors for Bioeconomy
How the crises drives innovationThe terrible war in Ukraine, Covid and the climate crisis - these are currently the three biggest global challenges. All three factors have a great impact on the food supply chain and food security. The UN World Food Program predicts that the lack of wheat from Ukraine will lead to famine worldwide. East Africa and the Middle East are particularly affected.
How can we meet these challenges - and what role can the bioeconomy play? Thanks to the innovations of recent years in this field, we can already produce high-quality protein in large quantities from just Co2, water and bacteria, or milk and cheese without cows through fermentation processes.
These innovations are considered the most groundbreaking developments in breeding of plants as well as livestock. To feed nine billion people in 2050 in a sustainable way but also to manage the actual crisis, we need to dare progress.
The world's best minds from science, politics, business and international organizations will come together in Munich on June 8 to discuss these issues as "Ambassadors for Bioeconomy."
